        Human Trafficking

          National Awareness Month 

        January is Slavery and Human Trafficking Awareness & Prevention Month

        "The Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault (WCASA) invites the people from across the state to join them in the annual observance of National Slavery and Human Trafficking Awareness & Prevention Month [...] It was established to bring to light the prevalence of human trafficking in our society, to recognize and support victims, to recommit to holding offenders accountable, and to acknowledge that every individual plays a role in ending slavery and exploitation. WCASA Press Release PDF Portable Document Format.

        WCASA and SlaveFree Madisonexternal link, community action group promoting awareness of Human Trafficking, are co-sponsoring a free Film Festival PDF Portable Document Format on January 29th, 2011 at the Pres House on the UW-Madison Campus.

        UPDATE: last weekend, WCASA co-sponsored the first annual SlaveFree Madison Human Trafficking Film Festival to commemorate National Slavery and Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Month. Five feature films and documentaries covering domestic and international trafficking were shown during the length of the day; with the average of 40 people attending each screening. Our sincere thanks to everyone who came to support this event, to organizations that tabled (Rape Crisis Centerexternal link, WE Internationalexternal link, SlaveFree Madisonexternal link & WCASA) and to all the amazing volunteers!          You made it a huge success!!!

        Wisconsin Summit on Teen Dating and Sexual Violence

        In partnership with WI Dept. of Children and Families, DOJ, EPI, WCADV and WI Domestic Abuse Council
