          Victims of Crime Act (VOCA)

To help potential applicants prepare for a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant competitive funding announcement coming later this month, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Office of Crime Victim Services (OCVS) is sending a timeline of important dates, below.  The VOCA grant can support direct victim services provided by eligible agencies.  Attached is a VOCA fact sheet with basic information on VOCA eligible agencies and services.  The VOCA guidelines and other information on VOCA can be found on the VOCA webpage.

Note that due to the competitive nature of the application process, once the funding announcement is posted, regulations prohibit OCVS from addressing individual questions from applicants.  Therefore, applicants will be asked to submit any questions regarding the funding announcement to OCVS by 4/1/16.  Questions received by 4/1 will be addressed in the 4/12/16 FAQs webinar open to all applicants.  We encourage applicants to review the funding announcement early to be sure their questions are answered.

          Register in Egrants:

You can register to become an Egrants user by going to the Egrants home page and click on “Register Here.”  Then select “Self Registration” and be sure to select “DOJ Egrants”.  If you need assistance with this process call the Egrants helpdesk.

SAM (System for Award Management) Website:

Additionally, in order to receive federal funds, agencies need to be registered in SAM (System for Award Management).  It is not necessary to be registered in SAM before you start and submit an application for VOCA funds in Egrants. However, your agency will need to be active in SAM  in order to receive an award.  You can apply for VOCA funds in Egrants while simultaneously applying for registration in SAM.   To register, go to the SAM website. There are user guides there that should be able to assist you, if not the Federal Service Helpdesk has helped our office several times, it is best to call first thing in the morning.
