Sexual Assault Legal Advocacy Manual:
The primary purpose of the Sexual Assault Legal Advocacy Manual is to provide a resource for legal advocates, although it will undoubtedly be helpful to a wider audience. It is designed to provide advocates with information to assist their work with sexual assault victims. It could also be used to train others, including new volunteers and staff, community members, or other agencies working for victims. The Legal Advocacy Manual is not designed as an introduction to advocacy or even legal advocacy. Rather it is responsive to requests from members for in-depth legal information. Consequently, those who are new to legal advocacy may find the information to be technical, detailed, or extensive. Advocates hoping to receive information about advocacy in general can find this information at WCASA’s numerous ongoing trainings, in WCASA’s other publications, fact sheets, and manuals, as well as on its website.
The Legal Advocacy Manual was last updated in 2003. WCASA is currently in the process of updating the manual. Check back for more information on when the updates to the Legal Manual will be complete. To obtain a copy of the Legal Advocacy Manual, please see our publications listing and order form .
