Policy and Legislation
WCASA is Wisconsin's public policy voice for issues affecting victims of sexual violence and the sexual assault service providers who serve them. WCASA advocates on both the state and federal level on issues that impacts victims of sexual violence in both the criminal and civil arenas. WCASA focuses on the following policy issues:
- Substantive crime victim rights
- Funding for sexual assault services and prevention
- Criminal Penalties for adult and juvenile crimes involving sexual violence
- Evidence based, victim sensitive sex offender management
- Economic empowerment for victims of sexual violence
- Many other policy issues that affect victims of sexual violence
WCASA engages in direct lobbying regarding these issues. WCASA also provides technical assistance to sexual assault providers and concerned citizens who wish to engage in grassroots policy action that empowers victims and reduces sexual violence. WCASA’s Policy Specialist maintains a Policy Listserve for those interested in becoming involved in WCASA’s public policy work.
