From gaining confidence in discussing the purpose of nPEP and assisting with access and adherence needs\, to better understanding the intersecting trauma dynamics for survivors living with HIV\, we will focus on using plain language and empowering communication to reduce the stigma\, discomfort\, and fear that can keep survivors from receiving support around HIV.\n\nAmanda Schumacher joined the staff of Family Support Center (Eau Claire/ Chippewa) in 2012\, and has served as Sexual Assault Program Director since 2019. Informed by foundational and enduring work with LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS movements\, Amanda has been engaged with anti-violence advocacy for more than 20 years. En esta conversación\, Jorge compartirá fragmentos de su historia\, las barreras que impiden el ser escuchado y la libertad que ha descubierto al hablar con la verdad. \nJorge Vidal es un forjador de comunidades\, sanador y practicante / aliado de justicia social.  Nacido en Perú que ha hecho de los Estados Unidos su hogar durante 32 años. To understand the complexity of decision-making\, practitioners must make space for storytelling. In this conversation\, Jorge will share pieces of his story\, what hinders listening\, and the freedom that he has discovered in truth-telling \nJorge Vidal is a community builder\, healer\, and social justice practitioner/ally born in Peru who has made the US home for 32 years. Over the decades\, as a front-line worker\, Jorge has been a witness to many injustices and lack of celebration for BITQPOC folks. Leading with feminine energy as a Latino man was not always easy\, but magic happened when Jorge found power in his intersections. He has been a strong advocate for cultural organizations and peers across the US as a cultural leader. Jorge has built and led local NY programs as an Assistant Director and transfer the knowledge in 3 states he lived in\, including Puerto Rico\, DC\, and Florida. In all\, he has lived and worked with the Latino community in 5 different states. Within the domestic violence and HIV/AIDS movement\, Jorge has contributed to policy changes within organizations\, race equity consultant\, technical assistance provider\, mentor to cultural leaders\, and speaker in numerous conferences around and outside the United States. Jorge values and fights the undermining of heart-to-heart connection that often is overlooked in our work. SUMMARY:Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy School (SAVAS) (Session by Office of Crime Victim Services)
DESCRIPTION:Due to ongoing restrictions in response to COVID-19\, WCASA will be offering its Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy School (SAVAS) online. The training will last Monday through Thursday\, May 3-6\, Monday through Thursday\, May 10-13 and Monday through Friday\, May 17-21. On Friday\, May 21st\, we welcome WI Office of Crime Victim Services staff\, who will provide information on the CVC/SAFE\, Crime Victim Rights and Safe at Home programs. These live sessions will last 2.5 hours each day and will not be recorded.\n\n\n\nSAVAS addresses the basics of being a victim advocate — answering the crisis line\, providing individual and systems advocacy and providing outreach in your community. DESCRIPTION:The rules surrounding Title IX have undergone significant changes in recent years. This 90-minute webinar will review key elements of the 2020 Title IX rule changes and subsequent litigation. We will also touch on how this has been playing out practically here in Wisconsin\, as well as the status of the rule changes under the current administration. While the legal landscape around Title IX is in flux as the Dept. of Education is expected to issue new rules in the coming months\, this webinar aims to provide tools participants can use to examine the current and future state of Title IX.
