SUMMARY:Helping The Helpers: Managing Secondary Trauma With Sustainable Self Care
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis webinar will explore the signs and impact of professional burn-out\, compassion fatigue\, and vicarious trauma — three experiences that are unfortunately quite common in the field of sexual violence. Intended for both advocates and preventionists\, the webinar will discuss methods for coping with these experiences and how “self-care” can go beyond material goods or temporary experiences.

SUMMARY:Embrace SAAM Event: "What Were You Wearing" Survivor Art Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:In honor of SAAM\, Embrace\, in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire – Barron County (UWEC-BC)\, is proud to present the fifth annual “What Were You Wearing?” Survivor Art Exhibit. The self-guided exhibit features stories and depictions of what survivors were wearing when they were sexually assaulted. A powerful message that clothing does not equal consent. Community members are invited to visit the exhibit\, opening on March 30th\, and closing on April 30th\, at the UWEC-BC Fine Arts Gallery in Rice Lake. Make sure to stop by the resource booth at the exhibit to learn more about Embrace and how you can make a difference in your community.

SUMMARY:WCASA SAAM Webinar Series: Harm Reduction Basics
DESCRIPTION:  \nOn April 14th from 10:00-11:00am\, Carly Kotwitz from Vivent Health will be presenting the basics on harm reduction and substance use. We know that because of the trauma of sexual violence\, survivors may use substances as a coping mechanism. We hope advocates and prevention folx will gain information helpful for when they are engaging with survivors. \n  \nOn April 28th from 1:00-2:30pm\, Erica Steib from Prevent Suicide Wisconsin will be sharing information on suicide prevention. Normalizing the topic of mental health\, which includes conversations of suicidal ideation\, is incredibly important to removing the societal stigma and shame that accompany metal illness. \n  \nThere is only one registration link for both webinars\, just select the webinar(s) you would like to attend: tinyurl.com/WCASASAAM26

SUMMARY:Starting a new conversation about sexual violence with UW Population Health Institute
DESCRIPTION:Abra Vigna & Olivia Little from UW Population Health Institute will join us to share a new prevention resource \nWhy do we need a new conversation about SV? \nAdvocates\, activists\, and educators continue to struggle to secure local support for evidence-based prevention efforts that go beyond shame and punishment. This past fall\, UWPHI met with advocates and educators to learn what is working and what is not in current efforts to engage communities and heard the need for guidance and revitalized talking points about sexual violence. Come to the webinar to learn about some new resources that try to reframe sexual violence from a rare sickness to a common outcome\, but one that we can understand and change. \n\nWhat is this new resource? \nA revised model and theory of change that is easier to understand than the social ecological model\, less overwhelming than the risk and protective factors model\, and less alarming than the rape culture pyramid. We created a series of visuals to support education work and make the goals for change clear and connected to research. Finally\, we connected concrete strategies to clear goals divided by community readiness. \n\nWhat if I don’t like it? \nThe webinar will include breakouts for participants to provide feedback and further refine the resources. \n\nFor any accessibility needs\, please \ncontact vanessam@wcasa.org by 4/2
