SUMMARY:Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy School (SAVAS)
DESCRIPTION:Hosted Online VIA Zoom \n \nThe Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy School (SAVAS) addresses the basics of being a victim advocate — answering the crisis line\, providing individual and systems advocacy and providing outreach in your community. Participants will have opportunities to practice skills necessary to provide comprehensive advocacy for victims. New sexual assault victim advocates\, domestic violence victim advocates who are staff of Sexual Assault Service Providers (SASPs) are encouraged to attend. \nThe October 2026 SAVAS will be held online via zoom October 20-22 & 27-29. SAVAS will run from 9am-11am & 1pm-3pm each day. \nThis opportunity is being offered to staff of WCASA member Sexual Assault Service Providers (SASPs) for no fee. The registration fee for staff of other organizations serving sexual assault survivors is $300 for the entire training.

While this is an important step in addressing and preventing sexual violence in our communities\, it is essential that advocates\, educators\, and community members are equipped with accurate information on what grooming is\, what it is not\, and how we can address it properly. \n\nJoin WCASA and Disability Rights WI (DRW) for a training that will provide a comprehensive overview of what grooming is\, in addition to exploring: \n\nhow grooming is misattributed and weaponized against the LGBTQ+ community\nwhat the new WI Act 88 says about grooming\nconsiderations for people with disabilities\nhow to prevent grooming
