During Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) this April, join UHS Survivor Services and Violence Prevention for “Connect & Reflect,” a month of healing, learning, and community for survivors and allies.
Connect & Reflect invites the campus community to recognize SAAM in two different ways –
Connect: A day of “connection” events will be hosted on April 30 (10 am – 7 pm) to promote healing and solidarity with survivors. Events are open to any student who identifies as a survivor, ally, or is otherwise impacted by sexual assault, harassment, or dating violence. Events will be facilitated by student organizations, campus departments, and community partners. Events include: tabling by survivor support organizations, craft and art workshops focused on survivorship, movement/strength workshop, and bystander intervention activities.
Reflect: Throughout the month of April, UHS will host a pop-up gallery featuring student survivor art gallery, a “What Were You Wearing” installation, and a historical review of significant events in campus sexual assault activism over the last 50 years, in the Student Activity Center. The Reflect exhibit will culminate in a reception with featured speaker and spotlighting student artists on April 30th, 4 pm – 5:30 pm.
